Another milestone..

Been down with some illness. Eno does work wonders when your stomach's bloated.

I have finally passed my CPR test, hence, I can now work as a lifeguard at any pool. It was hard to clear though, my tester apparently was the head of CPR in the Singapore Lifesaving Society. He asked, no, more like interrogated us on the workings of the heart, lungs, the inhalation and exhalation any any other nook and cranny in between. When I was doing my CPR, my heart was beating so fast and I was shaking in nervousness, which is so unlike me. I just did what I remembered and finally, after 2 hours of rigorous practicals and questions did he clear me and my friends. He gave good words of advice though, when he said that we should be retaking our CPR test every year instead of every 3 years, because life is at stake and the mistakes we make as civilians and lifeguards will affect the guality of life of a person. It could mean a difference of a person recovering well or having brain damage and never being able to talk again. When he said that, I suddenly dawned on me that being a lifeguard is not just merely walking around and blowing whistles at children clowning around in the pool, it's also about me doing the right thing and doing it fast and efficiently when the time arises and every second counts. It's a heavy responsibility.

I have to thank Ain for providing me this opportunity. 1 and half years ago when I told her that I wanted to learn to swim and maybe be a lifeguard one day, she took the initiative to ask around and found an instructor for me. I was willing to travel from Bedok to Boon Lay to learn from him and after much effort and determination, I've achieved another milestone. Ain has been supporting me all the way and providing me encouragement. From not being able to swim even 2 laps without stopping and wheezing to being able to swim 30 laps non stop, it's a lot of progress. Thanks Love!

Although I still cannot yet work at any Singapore Sports Council pool since I've not received my certificates, my instructor was kind enough to source for me a job from his friend's company at one of sentosa's private golfing clubs with a pool. So I might start work there.

How fast 1 and a half years have passed by. I found great friends in Isaac, Lukman, Guo Xiang and Kelvin. Without them learning B.M and Lifesaving 1,2,3 would be dull. I'm sure to keep in touch with them. It used to be on wednesday evenings I would go for my swimming classes, but now suddenly there is a gap yet to be filled.

Thanks again Ain..

School starts in 4 day's time. Buckle up!

God bless and god speed..
